We were blessed last summer with a Discovery Pass to get into Washington State parks for free, but it expires this month! So we’re trying to go on family adventures once or twice a week to explore the different parks in our area. The Pacific Northwest is beautiful… if only the rain would go away and the sun would come out to play!!
Today we planned to go to Fort Casey State Park near Coupeville on Whidbey Island for the afternoon. It was sprinkling a little when we got there but it stopped and was dry the rest of the time. Our family friends, the Wilson’s, went with us. It was an amazing experience! So much history and beauty in one place. It was a little nerve-wracking having my kids and all those ladders and rails and drop-offs… but God kept us safe and our friends were a HUGE help! I think the kids got hurt more playing football before we left 🙂
We explored the artillery, the “dark rooms”, the bunkers, the lighthouse, and watching the ferry go by. We also saw bunnies and deer! We had fun taking pictures throughout Fort Casey, and ended our time playing football & soccer in the field!
