Happy 4th of July!!
We celebrated today with some 4th of July activities! We made a delicious homemade dinner – barbecue chicken, red potatoes, corn on the cob, steamed carrots and lemonade. It was an awesome, peaceful dinner. We made Pillsbury Flag sugar cookies and a Star-Spangled Pie (http://www.snackpicks.com/en_US/recipes/details/star-spangled-pie.html). Jon and Elijah went to the TNT fireworks tent and got some sparklers, snakes, and crackling balls. Laci and I went to Haggen to get flags for each of the kids.
We had some sparkler fun, and watched an episode of “America’s Funniest Home Videos”. Then we piled in the van to go to the Skagit Riverwalk to watch the fireworks show at Edgewater Park in Mount Vernon. The kids had their red white and blue glow stick bracelets, and we waited. And waited. And waited. 🙂 We watched all the fireworks along the river and then it was finally dark enough outside for the big show to start. Jackson LOVED it! It was so fun watching his reaction. “Boom boom boom” he’d say. So cute! Jackson used the glow stick bracelets as glasses to watch the fireworks 🙂
It was a long day, but definitely a great day!!
