We picked Elijah up this morning from camping with his grandparents, then we headed to the opening day of the Skagit County Fair in Mount Vernon! We’ve lived here for almost 4 years, and have never been to this fair. Since we’re moving in a few weeks, we thought we’d go check it out. Plus they had a special deal today: all tickets before 3pm were only $3, and kids 5 & under are free. So it only cost $9 for our family of 5 to get in.
We walked around and saw all the animals. The kids got to pet a cow, a bunny, and a goat. We saw sheep, pigs, horses, chickens, dogs, cats, eagles, owls, geese, turkeys, and more!
The kids ate lunch right before we got there. Jon and I split a corn dog, and then we all shared a funnel cake. So we spent $5 to park close, $9 for admission, and $8 on food, bringing our total to $22. Not bad for a family of 5 and a few hours of fun at the fair!
We didn’t go on any of the rides today because the budget didn’t allow it; maybe another day at another fair 🙂
The Skagit County Fair runs August 8-11 this year. For times, prices, and directions, visit www.skagitcounty.net/fair.
